Mimas
A satellite of Saturn, discovered by William Herschel in 1789, spherical in shape and 390 kilometres in diameter. Its heavily cratered surface shows no evidence of subsequent change. The largest crater, Herschel, is 130 kilometres in diameter, one-third the size of the satellite, and has a central peak. It has been calculated that the impact that created Herschel must very nearly have shattered Mimas.
